The Legion 7.1 Patch, Companion App, and More at PAX West

  • World of Warcraft just launched its latest expansion, Legion, but that didn’t stop Blizzard from securing a large booth at Seattle’s PAX West and drawing in everyone while using promise of Illidan-themed Pinny Arcade pins. As the internet (and us too) is touting Legion as WoW’s best expansion since Wrath from the Lich King, we sat down with Blizzard’s Luis Barriga, Eric Maloof, and Cory Stockton to Buy Warmane Gold have a chat about the upcoming 7.1 patch, the WoW Legion companion app, and even more.

MMORPG: Let’s talk a bit regarding the revamped Karazhan. You showed of many of it in the panel. Could you inform us about why we’re headed back there and what’s taking?

CORY STOCKTON: Sure, inside pre-expansion content players arrive at go returning to Karazhan with Khadgar. They’re returning to get a extremely important tome. While they’re in that room, the Burning Legion comes knocking. Khadgar tries hurriedly to vomit some defenses, and you'll tell that particular by one they’re falling.  He supplies you with away time for Dalaran and the man stays behind to shore the defenses. But we realize he can’t stay. He has to proceed to the Broken Isles because he’s needed there to the war from the Legion.  So, in 7.1 we’re picking the storyline up about Karazhan and why the Legion remains interested.

ERIC MALOOF: It’s a bit different from our other revamps. Where we took something such as Blackrock Spire so we pretty much left it mostly intact. We touched up some fights but was mostly a similar stuff. In Karazhan, I think players are likely to see in regards to third that’s kind with the same, 1 / 3 that’s kind of remixed, after which… there’s el born area that’s form of going to blow people’s mind.  It’s such as the trippiest experience I’ve noticed in our game.

    MMORPG: No more hints?

ERIC: No, however if you see it you can see elements of it, but what employs is what’s about to blow people’s minds. It’s awesome.

MMORPG: There are a lot of new bosses, right? Any info on some of them you are able to share?

LUIS BARRIGA: One from the encounters that’s sort of a boss fight could be the Chess Match. They really enjoyed the mix-up of combat and gameplay there. We did it slightly different these times. Chess fights back, basically.

ERIC: Sure, and some in the returning ones you see inside the video are Attumen the Huntsman as well as the Maiden of Virtue. But we want to keep some on the newer ones towards the vest in the meantime.

MMORPG: Fair enough! Moving right along, additionally you briefly teased some with the outdoor stuff in Suramar. Expand!

ERIC: Sure, sure. In the development, once you are able to 110, Suramar unlocks along with a couple of other content. Story there is certainly that you’re working with a lot of rebels when you – they’re referred to as the Nightfallen. Basically nightborn elves which were separated from your Nightwell. And so that actually starts to have a deleterious influence on their bodies. Because they’re simply not tapped into a source in their power. And so, you quest using them, and you also rocked back in your heels with the Nightborn in addition to their leader Grand Magistrix Elisande. So within the patch, in 7.1, what we’re doing is turning it around. You’re happening the offensive. Against, really resistant to the rest of Suramar City. So that you may stop Elisande and Legion from achieving their dreams.

ERIC MALOOF: It’s a small amount different from our other revamps. Where we took such as Blackrock Spire so we pretty much left it mostly intact. We touched up some fights but was mostly a similar stuff. In Karazhan, I think players will see of a third that’s kind from the same, one third that’s kind of remixed, then… there’s the bradenton area that’s form of going to blow people’s mind.  It’s such as the trippiest experience I’ve affecting our game.

    MMORPG: No more hints?

ERIC: No, however if you see the recording you can see elements of it, but what accepts is what’s likely to blow people’s minds. It’s awesome.

You’re occurring the offensive. Against, really resistant to the rest of Suramar City. So that it is possible to stop Elisande and Legion from achieving their set goals.

    LUIS: Yeah.

ERIC: We listen, perform. And the group’s never been larger than it is today on WoW.

MMORPG: And we all know you’re already focusing on the next expansion, way after any patches, because that’s the way things work towards a game such as this, right?

LUIS: Well, without confirming anything, we have now people taking care of things which are, whether it’s a patch. So there’s definitely things from the works which are not scheduled for a minimum of a while.

We wrapped up our discussion talking around the Legion Companion App, containing already proved to be a fantastic path for players to keep engaged with all the game even though they can’t join. Something I can totally confirm, as I’ve been too busy with work to level past 104 earlier this week.

We also pointed out how Legion seems like one from the most bold and addictive expansions since Wrath with the Lich King. Cory told us operate really all begun to click with the team towards beta. There were many unknowns, something totally new like scaling zones, the category revamps, and exactly how does the c's make sure everthing works right? So it wasn’t really prior to the end if they got an all natural view of it that they began to see “Yeah, this is about to be fabulous.” As Legion is one in the most system and feature-heavy patches for WoW since its launch, it genuinely needed enough time to gel therefore we’re personally glad it had been given that time.

Lastly, I asked several guys what their most favorite new specs are and favorite classes to experiment with. Eric went together with the Havoc Demon Hunter – the movement can be something he really loves, anf the husband’s finding it hard to get back on his old classes now. Luis loves the Vengeance DH, due to its reactive role in tanking. And Cory, opt for spec near and dear to Robert Lashley’s own heart – the actual Marksman Hunter. Without a pet, it’s finally the genuine archery type class WoW has needed and its ability to kite around is definitely fun to learn.

With that, our brief time with all the guys was over while they had about nine million more interviews to perform through. Me? I’ve got a chance to finally get free from Stormheim and also on to Aszuna, so I’ll bid everyone farewell. Outlaw Rogue for that win.
